Waves are a natural part of the world. They are everywhere, from the water in the oceans to the air we breathe. When we think of waves, we first think of the ocean. Waves in the ocean move the water up and down, creating ripples and big splashes.

ANSWER – WAVES
What are waves?
Waves are like energy moving through something. In the ocean, the wind pushes the water, and this creates waves. They start out small and get bigger as the wind blows harder. Waves can be soft and gentle or strong and powerful. Big waves can sometimes be very exciting to watch or even scary if they are very big.
But not all waves are in the ocean. There are sound waves, light waves, and even waves in the air! When we talk or make sounds, the sound travels as waves in the air. This is how we can hear each other. When we turn on a light, light waves travel through space and help us see.
Waves We Can See and Feel
At the beach, when you stand in the water, you can feel the ocean waves at your feet. You can watch the waves come in and out, pulling the sand along with them. Some people even like to surf big waves, riding their boards over them.
Sometimes, waves are calm, and they make us feel at peace. Other times, they can be furious, especially during a storm, when big waves crash against the shore.
Why Waves Are Important
Waves are very important in nature. In the ocean, waves help move water around, and they bring food and air to the animals that live there. Without waves, the ocean would be too quiet, and it would be hard for sea creatures to survive.
